About Christine Fitzgerald Petrat
I am a licensed therapist who has over 15 years of vast experience in providing counseling to individuals, couples and families who are struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, adjustment difficulties, communication problems, relationship/marital issues, parenting/child and adolescent concerns. My clients and I work together to identify and help understand the root of their difficulties, and to learn how resolve those issues. I tailor my therapeutic approach (for example, cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral, modern psychodynamic, ) to the client’s unique situation using a balance of techniques that have been demonstrated to be effective based on the latest research.
I received my bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University and my master’s degree from Fordham University, and I have also had additional training at The Psychoanalytic Center of Northern New Jersey. In addition to my private practice, I have experience working at outpatient treatment centers providing counseling for individual, couples and families, working at a partial hospital seeing individuals and running therapy groups, and working with students in a school setting. I have also conducted critical incident debriefings for several traumatic events that have occurred in schools, places of business and the community at large. I have provided supervision for therapists in training as well.
So many times my clients have told me that they feel so much better after having a session with me. I provide a warm, safe place that enables my clients to grow in the therapeutic process. I am empathetic and understanding while I continually work towards identifying solutions that will help relieve my client's symptoms and improve their well being.
I accept some insurance and I offer a free telephonic consultation.
